Home > RecreationRunning in the Finger LakesRunning in the Finger Lakes is a popular sport with many dedicated, competitive runners. Spring and autumn can provide wonderfully cool conditions or cold rain. Summer is humid and can make staying cool on long runs difficult. Winter snows provide unique challenges and limit where it is safe to run. Runners find that being well equipped is essential in the Finger Lakes and investing in quality shoes and clothes can go a long way to making your run an enjoyable one.
For both runners and triathletes, the Finger Lakes presents unique challenges as many of the events take place where the terrain is hilly. For triathletes, remember that the water in the Finger Lakes is usually cold but incredibly scenic. Even if you don't win the race, you will enjoy the view. After the race, stop off at some of the many great wineries and breweries in the region to toast your accomplishments.
